Measurement of photon angles for highly resolved TOF detectors

چکیده
Particle identifi cation by means of the Time-of-Flight (TOF) technique is widely used in modern spectrometers. Stringent requirements on high resolving power (time resolutions σ < 200 ps) and small scintillator thicknesses (d < 0.5%X0) push the technique close to its limits. One intrinsic limit on the time resolution of low mass scintillation counters comes as a consequence of the statistical processes involved in the generation of the signal. In general, the voltage pulse, VPMT, can be expressed as a linear superposition of Npe single photoelectron pulses, vi, arriving at individual times due to time uncertainties in the energy transfer to the optical scintillator levels, tdep, the decay time of the light emitting states, temit, the propagation time, tpro, and the photomultiplier transit time, tTT:

متن کامل3D keypoint detectors and descriptors for 3D objects recognition with TOF camera
The goal of this work is to evaluate 3D keypoints detectors and descriptors, which could be used for quasi real time 3D object recognition. The work presented has three main objectives: extracting descriptors from real depth images, obtaining an accurate degree of invariance and robustness to scale and viewpoints, and maintaining the computation time as low as possible. Using a 3D time-of-fligh...
متن کاملBiological tissue imaging with a position and time sensitive pixelated detector.
We demonstrate the capabilities of a highly parallel, active pixel detector for large-area, mass spectrometric imaging of biological tissue sections. A bare Timepix assembly (512 × 512 pixels) is combined with chevron microchannel plates on an ion microscope matrix-assisted laser desorption time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MALDI TOF-MS). The detector assembly registers position- and time-resol...
متن کاملHigh Resolution E-ToF Mass Identification for Heavy Ions with Calorimetric Low Temperature Detectors
The direct in-flight mass determination of nuclides produced in heavy-ion induced reactions is an important task, requested in various fields of heavy-ion physics. It is in many cases mandatory for a unique identification of rare isotopes and an unambiguous interpretation of experimental data. The experimental technique often used for this purpose is a combined energy and time-of-flight (E-ToF)...
متن کاملEnergy calibration of energy-resolved photon-counting pixel detectors using laboratory polychromatic x-ray beams
Recently, photon-counting detectors capable of resolving incident x-ray photon energies have been considered for use in spectral x-ray imaging applications. For reliable use of energy-resolved photon-counting detectors (ERPCDs), energy calibration is an essential procedure prior to their use because variations in responses from each pixel of the ERPCD for incident photons, even at the same ener...
